Once upon a time, there were three dark-haired, driven, artistically-hungry women. Each came independently to Manhattan to pursue an acting career and to explore a city known for fostering an artistic community of great courage and vitality. In January of 2004 their paths crossed. Drawn by one another's energy and talent, they decided to start meeting on a weekly basis to pool resources and reinvigorate their careers. Together they set goals, shared contacts and celebrated successes. Within months, for all three women, acting work started rolling in, doors opened and new opportunities emerged. It quickly became apparent that the energy created between them was greater than the sum of its parts. Soon they decided to harness this energy and use it to create new work - to change the structure of opportunity, not only for themselves, but for other collaborative artists like them. They created stir. A creative home for those artists across disciplines who want to take opportunity into their own hands and produce something beautiful with it. Working closely with a pool of associated artists, stir seeks to create a new and distinct voice in arts production by developing and sponsoring significant work across mediums, empowering one another to take risks and push boundaries... and they're all living happily ever after.
